ABOUT ME

Hi,

I see myself as a fit, young enthusiastic “risktaker”, who displays a very “systematic” and “analytical” approach to the world I live in ….:) :.

Words ain’t enough to describe “life”. Life means a continual battle. My success, failure, happiness, or unhappiness mostly depends upon my knowledge of this battle. Life is a struggle and I always try to be brave to go through it and make my own way. Winning or losing ain’t matter. Life means choices, I am what the choice I choose! But above all, life is just an easy game to play….. This blog is the small part of the notes I wrote (or quoted) on my life, my point of views, my battles and …. my game ….

I can’t describe myself completely coz I keep wondering "who am i"? :) :). I am just an ordinary man, who was fortunately born in a lovely island, Borneo, on 13th of April, who has been struggling to pursue my dreams to several places on this planet. After spending most of my days in Dairi and Pakpak Bharat, North Sumatra, I am hiding in an isolated village upstream Mahakam River. I enjoy the game I am playing; wherever I am. . .

Dayak In The Drowning World

Dayak is a name of tribes that identifies the various indigenous peoples on the island of Borneo by the Indonesian part known as Kalimantan. The anthropologists said that we are divided into about 450 ethno-linguistic groups. Yes, I must agree, coz I haven't counted, :). Despite some differences, these group share physical features, architecture, language, an oral tradition, customs, social structure, weapons, agricultural technology and a similar outlook on life.

I am the one who believe that there are many basic affinitives in the legends of the various Dayak groups. Sadly, though, all the original elements of Dayak life as described in the legends have suffered significantly from external elements. Nowadays, our youngsters are more interested in TV shows, western cartoon movies rather than being relaxed in the empaatn jaliq (rattan plaitted mat) to listen to their parents telling stories, which actually are containing so many "moral messages", virtues or values. Story telling tradition has been taken over by TV set, parabolic antenna, cable TV or even internet connection, hahaha.

Yes, the only constant thing in life is the changes. As written on the top of my blog, tempora mutantur et nos mutamur cum illis, the time is changing and we have to change within it.

Above is the pic of dayak's warrior who is holding the wrapped mandau (long knife specially prepared for war - or civil war) which is tied to his waist on the left or right side (the dayak is always aware and always trying to avoid conflict, this why he puts his weapon on his side). The dayak on above pic is always proud of their own way of life, of their legends, of his ancestors. He is ME............................. :) hahahahaha .............
